I have always been fascinated by the work of the Impressionists. To me, their use of color and light portrays everyday scenes in a unique way that captures and engages us in our own journey of exploration. Photography has always taken me on a similar journey of discovery and imagination. In my work, photography forms the base; the palate and canvas on which I hope to create and share not just what the camera "saw" as I clicked the shutter, but what I saw in my mind as I envisioned the scene. Photography is the media in which I work and "paint;" the work of the impressionists serves as the inspiration.
Each image in the portfolio is an original photograph that I have taken at various times and travels and then digitally edited and enhanced to capture what I "saw" and felt. The result is a purposeful blending and blurring of the boundary between painting and photography (and sometimes other media in the final "canvas") as I try to create and express that vision. I hope that you will find these images evocative and engaging, inviting you on your own personal journey of exploration.
